Marksmanship & The Air Force

Department of the Air Force Shooting Team

The Air Force Shooting Team is a program of eight distinct and specialized competitive teams. From Action Pistol and High Power Rifle to the challenging International Trap & Skeet disciplines, our athletes demonstrate unparalleled skill. Each team, maintains a roster of up to ten members (5 primary and 5 development).

Shooting Team members represent the Air Force at Local, State, Regional, National, International, & military shooting competitions. If you're passionate about competitive shooting and aspire to be part of the DAF competitive shooting, please contact us.

Marksmanship is an inherent military skill that sets shooting apart from other sports. The Department of the Air Force (DAF) competitive shooting program motivates participants to improve their shooting skills in hopes of being selected for the DAF Shooting Teams. They can ultimately gain a position on the Olympic, Pan American, Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), or other teams representing the United States in National or International competition.

The DAF Shooting Teams are divided into the following eight distinct and separate teams: National Pistol; Action Pistol; American Skeet; International Pistol; International Rifle; High Power Rifle; International Skeet; and International Trap. Each shooting discipline is restricted to a maximum membership of ten members.

Air Force & Space Force members interested in applying for the team may submit their scores each fiscal year to the Team Captain and/or NCOIC.  Score submissions are open from 01 October to 31 November each year.  Scores submitted outside of this timeline will be considered on a case-by-case bases dependent on the current team size. The American Skeet team has a rolling application and can be applied for at any time.
